Known limits
- Database tab — no SSH tunnels or client certificates yet; Redis/MongoDB are not supported; table structure is edited with SQL, not a form.
- Restore is layout + conversations, not screens — terminal scrollback, running shell commands, Meeting Room membership and web previews start fresh.
- One visual style — Cursor-style dark (VS Code Dark Modern terminal colours); a light theme is on the list.
- Architecture diagram and worktrees — edits made in agent worktrees (
<repo>.worktrees/...) don't count as diagram changes until they're merged into the main checkout. - Architecture diagram changes from shell commands — edits made through shell commands (
sed, code generators) don't animate — only the agents' own edit tools do. They still count as stale and can be updated; Antigravity support is experimental. - Amp panes don't animate the Architecture diagram yet — Amp's plugin API doesn't document whether a plugin's "allow" answer skips Amp's own permission prompts, so TAO CODING doesn't install one rather than risk auto-approving tool calls.
- Cursor and
CLAUDE_CONFIG_DIR— if you setCLAUDE_CONFIG_DIR, Cursor won't see the edit hook (it always reads~/.claude/settings.json). - Kimi Code can't receive a startup brief — it has no interactive-with-prompt flag — so it isn't offered for diagram generation, and worktree workers delegated to Kimi Code won't get their brief.
- Removing TAO CODING's Codex hook can reset approval of your own Codex hooks — Codex remembers approvals by position, so hooks listed after ours may need approving again.
- Meeting Room membership doesn't survive a pane restart — re-drag the pane.
- The preview column has no tabs, or per-terminal cookie isolation, and a failed page shows the platform's own error view.
- The Network panel cannot see requests from cross-origin iframes or service workers, the page's own document request, WebSocket frames, or requests still waiting for an answer. Scripts, images and stylesheets show without status or headers.
- Terminal search covers the visible scrollback only — matches beyond xterm's own buffer, and search-and-replace, aren't available.
- Linux is implemented but less tested than Windows and macOS.
- Vietnamese/CJK input methods on Linux (GNOME Wayland) — if
GTK_IM_MODULE=ibusis forced in your session, the composing word shows in a floating bubble outside the terminal and is only committed at the space bar. UnsetGTK_IM_MODULE(andXMODIFIERS) before launching so the input method draws inline. Launching withGDK_BACKEND=x11(running under XWayland) causes the same bubble — start TAO CODING natively on Wayland. - Claude Code hooks are written at every launch — the
taocoding --hookentries in~/.claude/settings.jsonare re-checked on each boot (no write when nothing changed; your own hooks are left alone). claudestarted by hand in a plain Terminal pane gets no state icons — only panes created as Claude Code agents are wired to the hooks.- After Esc (interrupt) a Claude Code pane can read "working" for up to 30 s — Claude fires no Stop hook on an interrupt, so the working signal has to time out before screen reading takes over again.
- Find widget with regex on shows "Invalid regex" while you type — a pattern that does not parse yet (for example
foo() reads Invalid regex in the counter and clears the previous highlights until the pattern is valid again. Toggle regex off to search it as literal text. - Any program in any pane can overwrite the clipboard via OSC 52 — like VS Code, there is no per-pane gate. Reads are refused and empty writes never clear it; copies larger than 1 MiB are ignored.
- Shell integration is opt-in — a hand-typed command in a plain Terminal pane is only noticed if that shell emits OSC 133 marks (Shell integration). Nothing is injected,
cmd.execannot do it, and an interrupted command that redraws the prompt without aDmark is simply forgotten.
